DichroFX

Privacy

Last updated 6 October 2026

The short version. This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and shows no ads. We only hold what you choose to send us: your email address if you join the list, your messages if you write to us, and, if you buy a license, what it takes to activate it. We never sell or rent any of it.

The effects themselves send nothing anywhere. They run inside Pandoras Box and have no way to reach the internet.

Who we are

DichroFX is run by Matthew Newman-Saul, trading as DichroFX. For anything about your data, write to hello@dichrofx.com.

Visiting this website

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles your internet address and basic details of each request (such as the page and your browser type) to deliver the page and protect the site from attacks. We do not use this to identify you, and we have no analytics or tracking scripts. Our fonts are served from this site, so loading a page contacts no one else.

The mailing list

If you sign up, your email address goes to Buttondown, which stores the list and sends our emails. You join only after clicking the link in the confirmation email. Buttondown keeps the address, when you signed up, and basic delivery information about the emails we send you.

We write only when there is something worth your time, such as a new free effect or a release. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can ask us to remove you. We keep your address until you unsubscribe. We hold it because you asked us to (your consent), and you can withdraw that at any time.

Emailing us

Mail to hello@dichrofx.com is passed on by Cloudflare's email routing to our mailbox, which is hosted by Google (Gmail). We use what you send only to answer you and keep it only as long as that, and our records, need.

Activating a license

Free effects need no activation. When you activate a paid license, the DichroFX licensing app (or the offline activation page on this site) sends our licensing provider, Keygen, three things: your license key, the computer's name, and a one-way code that identifies the computer, made from an ID Windows already holds. Like any internet request it also carries your internet address. We use this only to count and manage the computers on your license. Nothing about your shows, media or files is ever sent.

The offline activation page runs entirely in your browser and talks only to Keygen. The key in its address is removed as soon as the page reads it and never reaches us.

We keep license records while the license exists and as long as our business records require afterwards. We hold them to provide the license you bought (to perform our contract with you).

Who else sees your data

Only the services named above, and only to do the job described. We never sell or rent personal data, and we share it with no one else unless the law requires us to. These services may process data in the United States and other countries, under their own safeguards for international transfers.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Write to hello@dichrofx.com and we will reply within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Children

DichroFX is made for professional show operators and is not aimed at children under 16.

Changes

When this page changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change affects how we use data we already hold, we will tell the mailing list first.
